Our Year 3 children had a fantastic day exploring Cannon Hill Park as part of our Geography and Science learning.
We began our adventure by using map skills and compass directions to plan and follow a walking route around the park, spotting human and physical features along the way. After lots of walking, we were ready for a well-earned break and enjoyed sitting in the bandstand to rest and take in the surroundings. We also spent some quiet time by the river, sketching the peaceful scenery and listening to the gentle sounds of the water and birds.
During our trip, we discovered a variety of plants, trees, and natural features. The children loved collecting different textures and colours from nature, which they later used to create beautiful collages on the grass. We also explored the history of the park by visiting the Boar War and Tunisia memorials.
After all that exploring, we were ready for lunch, which we enjoyed by the lake while watching ducks and soaking up the sunshine. We ended the day with time in the playground, having fun climbing, sliding, and playing together with our friends. It was a wonderful day filled with learning, nature, history, and joy – a perfect way to experience the beauty of God’s creation while building memories together.
