Saint John’s House Saint Team
We recently came together for a special Celebration of the Word, led by our House Captains.
We began with prayer and singing, reminding us that we can all serve God in our daily lives. We reflected on Saint John and how he teaches us to love one another, as well as the courage of Saint George and the actions of Saint Mark. We are encouraged to follow their example in the way we live our lives each day. We listened to a reading from the Gospel and took part in activities where we shared kindness and thought about how we can live out our faith each day.
The celebration ended with prayers and a joyful hymn, leaving us inspired to show love, be brave, and put our faith into action.
Saint Luke’s House Saint Team
Our saint house came together to learn about the life and work of Saint Luke and Saint Mark.
We listened to a story from his Gospel about how Jesus chose his apostles and asked them to work together and help others. This made us think about how we are all chosen to use our gifts within our families, our school, and our wider community.
During our reflection, a candle was passed around the group to show how the light of Jesus is shared. It reminded us that we can shine this light by being kind, caring for one another, and supporting our friends, families, and community.
Saint Mark’s House Saint Team
Our house gathered together to celebrate the life and work of Saint Mark. We spent time reflecting on his Gospel, particularly the Parable of the Sower, and considered what it means to live rich and meaningful lives. We thought about how, like the seed that falls on good soil, we are called to be open to God’s Word so that it can grow within us and bear good fruit through our actions, choices, and relationships.
As part of our celebration, we planted our own seeds. This gave us a special opportunity to think about how we can nurture and care for something over time, just as we are called to nurture our faith. It reminded us that growth takes patience, effort, and trust, and that even small beginnings can lead to something wonderful.
We also took time to reflect on the life of St George, as it was his feast day. We remembered his courage, strength, and dedication to his faith, and how he stood firm in what he believed in, even in the face of great challenges. His example encouraged us to be brave, to stand up for what is right, and to live out our faith with confidence.
Together, these reflections helped us to think about how we can grow in faith, show courage in our daily lives, and continue to become the very best versions of ourselves
Saint Matthew’s House Saint Team
This was a joyful and faith-filled day for the House of St Matthew at Holy Family. We came together to celebrate the feasts of St George and St Mark, giving thanks for their strong faith and example.
It was wonderful to see children from all year groups gathered together for our Celebration of the Word. Their presence brought a real sense of unity, joy, and shared faith. We reflected on the Parable of the Growing Seed from St Mark’s Gospel. This reminds us that God’s Word is like a seed planted in our hearts. It grows quietly over time and bears fruit in God’s perfect timing.
We are called to be faithful in sharing this seed – spreading God’s Word with trust and hope, praying for it to grow, and leaving the results in God’s hands. As Scripture says, “All by itself the soil produces” (Mark 4:28). Inspired by St Mark and St Matthew, may we continue to grow in faith, trust in God, and do our best in all we do.
