We were delighted to welcome James Trewby to Holy Family to lead an inspiring workshop working with our Children as Leaders, focusing on what it means to be a leader and how we can make a positive difference to the lives of others.
The children explored the process of See, Judge, Act, thinking about how leaders can recognise situations where help is needed, reflect on what is right and take action to make a difference. They considered how being a leader is about serving others and following the example of Jesus.
We reflected on the Scripture of Jesus washing the feet of His disciples, learning that true leadership means showing humility, kindness and a willingness to serve others. The children also learned about St Oscar Romero and how he used his voice and actions to stand up for others and bring about positive change.
Working collaboratively in groups, the children considered real-life situations and discussed how they could respond as leaders using the See, Judge, Act approach. They then presented their ideas, explaining how they would recognise a need, decide what was right and take action to make a difference.
The workshop encouraged our children to recognise that everyone can be a leader and that even small acts of kindness, courage and service can have a lasting impact. It also strengthened pupils’ understanding of Catholic Social Teaching, particularly human dignity, solidarity and the common good. It was a wonderful opportunity for our children to reflect on how they can live out their faith and follow Jesus’ example by making a positive difference in our school and wider community.
